From what I can figure, train travel is not really any less expensive than air travel and it is more expensive than travel by car. I have also learned in my 18 years of traveling with my children, no matter which way you decide to travel, it takes some work and patience.
I remember the work and patience it took one particular fully loaded flight where I sat on a tarmac with 3 kids and 8 months pregnant with my 4th for over 5 hours. The entire time I was sitting there I thought five things:

I rarely fly with my kids. I am a road warrior and love taking road trips, seeing the country, and enjoying time with my kids.
