Sharing (Fruit + Books) is Caring

I was watching the Rachel Ray show a couple days back and they mentioned two great websites that I felt would be beneficial to share with all of you.  Reason why is because it involves sharing with one another in our community and across the Internet.

http://bookmooch.com/ is a website that is an online community that exchanges used books. How great would it be to get rid of books you don't want in exchange for books you do want. There is no cost to join or use this web site, your only cost is mailing your books to others. In addition, some cool features also include:

  • Helping charities: you can also give your points to charities we work with, such as children's hospitals (so a sick kid can get a free book delivered to their bed), Library fund, African literacy, or to us to thank us for running this web site.

  • Sharing World wide: You can request books from other countries, in other languages.

  • http://neighborhoodfruit.com/ is a website that helps you find and share fruit locally, both backyard bounty and abundance on public lands.  If you happen to have a fruit tree in abundance of fruit that you want to share or trade with another type, then this website will help you do just that.  I had an abundance of apple trees in early fall and there are only so much apples that three people can eat! I would have loved to have traded for some lemons, pears, or whatever fruit was available. I like this idea of sharing and trading among our communities.

I've recently signed up at this website and unfortunately there are very few people that are in my neighborhood to share with, so I'm hoping by spreading the word out we can get more people to join in this network in the Bay Area!
