Bisphenol A (BPA), one of many chemicals used to make plastics and resins, is an estrogen mimicker (in the 1930s it was even used as an estrogen replacement therapy!) and has been linked to allergies, asthma, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, and a wide range of reproductive defects.

The #7 recycling symbol means "mixed plastics" and includes the BPA-containing hard plastics–usually called polycarbonate, lexan, or polysulfone. Not all #7 plastics contain BPA however Ecomom will take back all of your plastic baby bottles and sippy cups so you don't have to worry.
