Care.com is easy to use, you sign up, pay a membership fee, set up a profile and then you have the option of either posting an ad, search through the database or do both. We initially posted an ad and received a lot of inquiries shortly after posting. We also decided to search through the database as well to ensure that we were looking at all of our options.
After researching and chatting with many of the candidates that met our criteria via email and phone, my husband then met with the 6-8 potential nannies and from there narrowed it down to 2-3 where baby E and I met them at the house. We watched how each of them interacted with baby E, handled him and most importantly if there was a connection between the two of them. The instant nanny #3 met with baby E, he reached out for her and we instantly knew she was the one. Aside from the fact that baby E basically picked his nanny as he did not reach out for nanny #1 or nanny #2, we went with our intuition as to what felt right for our family. Also what was definitely a good sign for us was that she was able to put baby E down for a nap within 10 minutes of meeting him which is not an easy feat as he's a professional cat napper.
